I found another good one!
Eqn, I was recording Sam's lines earlier today and noticed a passage, right at the end, which we should probably edit for clarity's sake: "Still smiling, Carl picked up one of the cookies still left on the plate, and held it up in a…

EqN, don't know if you've started working on this already. I know I haven't, sorry. I've only started moving today, I've sent a message to Piccolo Sky, the author, asking for his thoughts on the matter and if there would b…

The Joys of Noisegate.
I tried fiddling with this the other day and I too had some issues with soft sounds being cut off and a few artifacts occasionally appearing during supposed moments of silence. I did manage to solve that, but at the cost of introducing some unpleasa…

That's interesting, if this means you can get rid of noise removal I'll definitely have to try it out.

I did try and reach CrazedRambling and he told me he'd give a look at the forum eventually. Guess he forgot.

Ah, tits. I'd like not to be the twat who went and forgot all about this thing altoghether. I'll add you on Skype in a moment. My thoughts were that you could be Carl and I'd do Sam and editing/direction.

I'll add you, but I'm not online on Skype too often. We also live several timezones apart, so we might be better off just working through email.

I hear you, an accident when Audacity crashed and corrupted the session, making me lose a chapter worth of recorded stuff, is the main reason why I switched to Audition. Also, Eqn, we have to arrange that radio play/narration thingie. I'm goin…

Oh, I see. An ambitious plan, I like it! So who'd be in for this? I'd be fine both with editing or voice work, given this is pleasantly short.

Well, there's two characters, a waitress with a single line and a narrator, so maybe three voices total? If we wanted to add background noises we could pull them from a sound effects library, there's many free online.

What MIC do you use? (And what kind of MIC you SHOULD use)
Looks terrible but works amazingly well. I originally intended to glue velcro to the cardboard box and foam, but I eventually found out that it isn't really necessary. Back foam panel still is velcro'ed to the box, though.

Hotmail accounts no longer allowed.
I can't remember if there's one already in place, but what about a confirmation email for registrarion? Or a captcha, maybe. There still are people using Hotmail around, unfortunately.

An ideal fic for multiple narrators
Fore the record, I read the Sandwich and didn't quite like it, to be honest, so I guess I'll pass. Not really my cup of tea. I guess that's actually for the best, though, because I can't really see it done by more than two people…

An ideal fic for multiple narrators
It's not about matching the voice, it's about matching their tone. When you nail that, you'll sound believable.Absolutely, but that's exactly what I'm not too keen on doing. I prefer coming up with my own interpretation for…

An ideal fic for multiple narrators
I agree with EqN. Also, I generally dislike fics with the Mane 6 as I'm not a particular fan of having to imitate their voices. I prefer being able to do what I feel comfortable with when voicing characters. One project that could be doable as…

Yes I too like to keep breaths in for dramatic purposes, although talking with folks over here is making me painfully aware of them. It's probably for the best, though, because I'm starting to pay more attention and removing them when need…

Making a full-fledged radio drama out of a fic would probably require some adaptation of the original text, so I don't know about that. I think a very important requirement is that there be very few to no female characters, because I fear it w…

Ah yes reading ahead is absolutely necessary. I've read PH back in January but I'll be damned if I can remember what I had for dinner yesterday, nevermind an encyclopedia of a fic like it. I too usually skim the text quite ahead to get a f…

What MIC do you use? (And what kind of MIC you SHOULD use)
Well, as far as I can tell from Googling around, the Scarlett has a knob for gain control as well, so that's a thing you could do if you wanted to. My setup was built with budget in mind, let me just tell you that my mic screen is made of cardb…

You see, my problem is that I'm a perfectionist. I don't really spend that much time on editing (with which I refer to patching takes together, removing noises, adjusting pauses/timing and applying post processing) but on the recording its…

What MIC do you use? (And what kind of MIC you SHOULD use)
I started out with a Samson C01U, which is a cheap (~€75) USB condenser mic that almost everyone you ask will tell you is the ideal for beginners. It has a rather narrow dynamic range, though, so eventually I sold that out on Ebay and bought an Audi…

Yeah, as The4thaggie said, compression is the way to go, even to the point of making use of a limiter. It might be a bit harsh on music, but with the right tweaking you don't almost notice any distorion on voice tracks. Breathing sounds are a …
